This article shows you how to view student progress in real time (including adding additional time and re-opening a student's assessment).
What is Live View
Live View is a feature within EXAMIND that gives instructors visibility into what his happening during an assessment in real time. Within Live View you can also force submit a student's assessment, add additional time, or re-open a student's previously submitted exam.
How do I Access Live View
To access Live View, use the following steps:
Step 1: Within your course navigate to the assessment tab by clicking on Assessments
Step 2: Select the assessment
Step 3: Select Live View from the lefthand menu as noted below:
How to View Real Time Student Progress
There are threes sections within Live View: NOT STARTED, IN PROGRESS, and SUBMITTED. The number within parentheses next to the section title represents the number of students in each section. Each section contains information on the Status, Name (of Student), Attempt (#), Section, Progress, and Time Limit. Below is a brief description of each section.
NOT STARTED
Upon entering Live View you are automatically brought into the NOT STARTED section. As seen below:
Within this section there are two statuses. The first status, represented by STUDENT NAME 1, represents a situation where the student has signed into EXAMIND and selected the assessment but has not yet started. In this scenario, the status icon is the outline of a student with a check mark, all in black. The black check mark means the student is no longer signed into EXAMIND. If the student were signed in the color of the check mark will be green to indicate that the student is signed into EXAMIND. When a student has selected the assessment, the other column information will auto-populate.
- Attempt: Represents the current attempt number for the student.
- Section: Refers to the section name associated with the student. The Section information comes directly from your LMS, if you are integrated with EXAMIND.
- Progress: Indicates the number of questions answered over the total number of questions in the assessment.
- Time Limit: Indicates the allowed time in minutes.
The second student is represented by a grayed out student icon. This means that the student has not yet signed into the assessment, as such there is no check mark. When the student signs in the icon will change to a black icon with a green check mark. In this case, the student is on their first attempt and also has the same time limit as STUDENT NAME 1.
IN PROGRESS
When a student enters the assessment they will automatically move within Live View from the NOT STARTED section to the IN PROGRESS section, as noted below:
Notice that the student's status changed to a green signal sign. This means that the student is online and in the assessment. If by chance the student goes offline during the exam the status icon will change to red to indicate the student is offline.
By hovering over the status icon of a student information is presented on the student's browser, computer type, and IP location. Instructors can view this information to identify usual student behavior.
As students begin to work on the assessment the progress column information will update as a student answers a question and the time remaining will start counting down.
SUBMITTED
When the student finishes the assessment the student will move from IN PROGRESS to the SUBMITTED section. The student icon will change to a double check mark which means the assessment was submitted.
How to Pause or Add Additional Time During a Live Assessment
